Personal Loan Documents in Malaysia: What to Prepare

Before you collect files, choose the exact product you may apply for. A personal loan and a Personal Financing-i may use different application routes, and a bank can update its own checklist. The examples below show why a general list should not be treated as a promise that a particular document will be accepted.

Examples from official product pages

These are product-specific examples, not a recommended lender ranking. Read the linked page for its full conditions and the latest version before sending anything.

Maybank Personal Loan

Maybank's page lists several income-evidence options for salaried applicants: the latest three months' payslips, latest EA form, latest EPF statement, latest BE form with official tax receipt, or latest three months of account activity or bank statements showing salary credits. For self-employed applicants, it pairs business registration with a latest B form and official tax receipt or latest six months of bank statements.1 The page separately names an NRIC copy for identity verification. Its document table does not show a separate effective date, so check the page again for the selected product.

CIMB Cash Plus Personal Loan

CIMB's income-document table separates fixed and variable income and groups some applicants by employer type. For the named multinational, public-listed and government-linked employer group, it lists a latest one-month payslip for fixed income or latest three-month payslips for variable income; both columns also show an EPF statement with at least six months of contributions as an alternative. For the “Others” employer row, it lists latest three-month payslips together with latest three-month salary-credit bank statements, or an EPF statement with at least six months of contributions.2

For self-employed applicants, the page pairs business-registration evidence with one of these income-evidence routes: latest six-month company bank statements, latest Form B/BE with an LHDN payment receipt, or latest e-Form B/BE with an e-filing acknowledgement. The page's “no documents required” wording is limited to selected CIMB@Work customers who meet CIMB's salary-credit conditions and remains subject to the bank's decision; it is not a general rule for all applicants.2

RHB Personal Financing-i for Private Sector

RHB publishes separate lists for employees, self-employed applicants and commission earners. Its employee list names a MyKad copy, latest one-month salary slip or commission statement, latest one-month bank statement, latest 12-month EPF statement, and latest Form B/BE with validated tax-payment receipt. Its self-employed list names MyKad, company or business-registration evidence, and a latest one-month bank statement. Its commission-earner list names MyKad plus six months of salary or commission statements and six months of bank statements.3 Follow that product page's exact list rather than carrying it across to another RHB product or another bank.

Make a product-specific preparation list

  1. Name the product. Save the exact product page and note when you checked it. Do not combine requirements from a bank's conventional and Islamic products.
  2. Choose the matching income category. Note whether the product page describes fixed pay, variable pay, commission or self-employment. If your situation does not fit a row, ask the bank instead of guessing.
  3. Match the document period. Check the number of months and whether the list asks for payslips, a bank statement, EPF evidence, tax records or business registration. “Latest” can change as time passes.
  4. Keep questions separate from documents. Record missing or unclear items and ask the bank through its official contact route. Do not treat another product's checklist as a substitute.

Keep the documents in a private folder you control. Do not send an NRIC, payslip, bank statement or tax record through an unverified link or to a page that does not explicitly need it. Maybank says applications and interactions for its personal-loan products should be handled through its own official channels.1

Use a calculator for numbers, not document review

Kira Dulu's personal-loan eligibility calculator can help you explore an indicative scenario from the numbers you enter. It does not inspect documents, confirm a lender's accepted income, submit an application or predict approval. For the difference between income and monthly debt commitments, read the DSR planning guide.

Planning only. A calculator result is not a lender's decision or offer.

Frequently asked questions

Are the same documents required by every bank?

No. The examples above show different categories and document periods. Check the exact product's current official list and ask the bank about a case it does not cover.

Can a payslip by itself be enough?

Do not assume so. One product page may list more than one income record, while another may show different options for a particular income or employer category. The bank decides what applies to your application.

Can I upload documents to Kira Dulu for this check?

No. This guide does not collect documents or provide document verification. Send application records only through the bank's verified official route.
